About Thousand Feet Plain
Baizhangping, also known as Zunyan and Xingtaiyan, is located in the southeast of Qingyuan Cave. The place got its name because the eminent monk Ke Zun of the Northern Song Dynasty once practiced here. The huge boulders stretch for hundreds of miles. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the Quanzhou prefect Jiang Zhili wrote the "Baizhangping" stone inscription. Historically, there were pillow cloud pavilions and three stone pagodas. In the Song Dynasty, Ke Zun built a place of practice here. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, scholar Wang Shenzhong studied in Zunyan and called himself "Zunyan layman". He later became the first of the "Eight Talented Scholars of Jiajing". It is said that the military general Yu Dayou often practiced martial arts here when he was young. There is a cliff stone carving of his "Jun En Shan Zhong" nearby.
