About ancient locust tree

Ancient Sophora japonica (also known as Shanyang Ancient Sophora japonica) is an iconic ancient tree on Guhuai Road in Rencheng District, Jining City, Shandong Province. It is said to have been planted in the Tang Dynasty and was named after the legend of the famous general Yuchi Jingdelema stopping there. It is located on the south side of "Yishan", the highest point in Jining City. Folks interpret its special status as "the water covers the whole city, and it is safe here". During the Republic of China, scholar Wang Yizhi once carved a seal inscription for it. The main trunk of the ancient locust tree is hollow and only the bark remains. After a lightning strike in 1992 caused new branches to break, the second generation of locust trees sprouted from the roots, forming an ecological wonder of "ancient locust tree buds".
