About Daicun Dam

Daicun Dam is China's water conservancy project and a famous hydraulic structure in ancient times. It is as famous as Dujiangyan. It is located at the dividing point between Dawen River and Daqing River in Dongping County, Shandong Province. It is an essential element of the Nanwang Water Diversion Hub Project of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It aims to retain the water of the Dawen River, divert the water from the Dawen River to the Nanwang "water ridge", replenish the canal, and ensure the smooth navigation of the Grand Canal. It is known as the "Heart of the Canal". The total length of Daicun Dam is 1,599.5 meters, including three parts: the main stone dam, the Dougong Dike (Taihuang Dike) and the gray earth dam (Sanhe Earth Dam). The construction is difficult, the technology content is high and the functions are perfect.
