About Zhongshan Park

Zhongshan Park is located at No. 4 Zhonghua Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing (west of Tiananmen). It is one of the 14 heritage sites on the central axis of Beijing. It was once the Xingguo Temple in the Liao Dynasty, and was renamed the Wanshou Xingguo Temple in the Yuan Dynasty. In the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), the Sheji altar was built according to the "Zuozu Youshe" in "Zhou Rites", and the Ming system was followed in the Qing Dynasty. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), under the auspices of Zhu Qiqian, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Beiyang Government, it was opened to the public as Central Park. In the seventeenth year of the Republic of China (1928), it was renamed Zhongshan Park in memory of Sun Yat-sen. In 2023, it was selected into the "Seventh Batch of China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage" promotion project list.
