About Wulan Wutai Scenic Area
The Ulan Wutai Scenic Area is located in Hugelgirtu Gacha, Jiren Gole Town, Xiwu Zhuquminqi Banner, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, situated 110 kilometers from Xilinhot City, 68 kilometers from Balagargol Town—the seat of the Xiwu Banner Government—and 25 kilometers from Jiren Gole Town, with S307 Provincial Road just 20 kilometers away. This scenic area is renowned alongside Mount Wutai in Shanxi Province and is one of the five great mountains that make up the Buddhist holy site of Mount Wutai. The Mongolian word “Ulan” means “red,” and the area gained its name due to legend that the red hair of Shakyamuni shone brilliantly in the sunlight. It became a Buddhist holy site approximately 1,900 years ago.
