About Ruiguang Academy
Ruiguang Academy is located in the compound of the People's Government of Raoping County, Huanggang Town, Raoping County, Guangdong Province. The main building, Ruiguang Terrace, was built in the 2nd to 6th year of Ming Dynasty (1622-1626). The main building is a three-story eight-sided civil pavilion with a height of 18 meters. It retained its original features after two renovations in 1984 and 2003. In July 1981, it was announced by the Raoping County People's Government as one of the first batch of county-level cultural relics protection units. In 2003, because the original buildings around Ruiguang Terrace became dilapidated, they were demolished and turned into flower gardens, while Ruiguang Terrace was preserved. The academy was initially used as a place for students to study in the city. It was expanded in the 22nd year of Qianlong's reign (1757).
