About Zhuangyuanfang
Zhuàngyuán Fāng is located within the jurisdiction of Renmin Street, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City. It runs east-west, starting from Tiancheng Road in the east and ending at Renmin South Road in the west, with a total length of 240 meters. Built in the Yuan or Ming dynasties, it was originally named Taitongfang and was renamed Zhuangyuanfang in the late 20th century. It is named after Zhang Zhensun, the number one scholar in the Song Dynasty, once lived here. Zhang Zhensun was the number one scholar in the seventh year of Xianchun (1271). Since the Qing Dynasty, the streets have been dotted with handicraft workshops. A handicraft market was established in 1990. Nowadays, there are many vacant shops in the alleys. In January 2023, it was selected into the "Guangzhou Place Names Protection List (First Batch)".
