About shushengqiao
Shusheng Bridge is an ancient natural bridge located on the Pengyong River in Rongli Neighborhood Committee, Ronggui Street, Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It was formed by the aerial roots of three banyan trees that were artificially guided to grow across the river. It was formed between the Longqing and Wanli years of the Ming Dynasty. The bridge is about 3 meters wide and 6 meters long, with a maximum air root diameter of 30 centimeters. It was originally a wooden bridge, but due to frequent damage, the villagers used hollow bamboo to fix the aerial roots of the banyan tree and laid wooden boards. It gradually evolved into a bridge with aerial roots as the main structure. The existing stone plaque was rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and was inscribed "Qianlong Jiwei (1739)".
