About Sanshi Shang Shufang
The Third Generation Shang Shufang is a commemorative archway built in the first year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1628) to commemorate the three generations of Taichang Qing Lin Zan, his son Lin Qiaoyi and his grandson Lin Xichun. It is located in Baolong Village, Anbu, Chao'an, Guangdong (now the branch lane of Taiping Road, Chaozhou). It was built in the fourth year of Chongzhen (1631). It was named after Lin Xichun died of illness and the imperial court awarded him the titles of three generations of ministers to his ancestors, father and himself. "Da Lao of the Four Dynasties" is engraved on the forehead of the square, which refers to Lin Xichun's official position in the four dynasties of Wanli, Taichang, Tianqi and Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty. "Da Lao" is a title for senior and respected officials. Lin Xichun became a Jinshi in the eleventh year of Wanli (1583).
