About Waijiang Liyuan Office
Waijiang Liyuan Office is located on Shangshuimen Street in Chaozhou City, Guangdong. It was built in an unknown year and was rebuilt during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It was originally a gathering place for Waijiang opera troupes and Chaoyin artists. The building is a wooden structure with three bays and three arches and raised beams. There are seven steles donated by the Qing Dynasty for repairs. It was listed as a key municipal cultural relics protection unit in 1987, and was upgraded to a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 2022. The building was damaged during the Cultural Revolution and was certified as a municipal cultural heritage in 1987. In 2014, Chaozhou Qianting Tea Company invested in renovations and introduced Gongfu tea culture, becoming the first case of cooperation between cultural relics and private capital in Chaozhou.
