About Mine

The mines are place name relics formed due to artificial mining activities in Chongqing. They are mainly distributed in Wulong District, Jiulongpo District and other areas, reflecting the history of mineral development in the area. Before the administrative division adjustment in 2004, Guangyang Township in Wulong County had the organizational structure of Kuangdong Village, which was later merged into Luhong Village in Xiangkou Town. In 2023, during the archaeological excavation of the small farm iron smelting site, 19 mines were discovered around the site. The Zhongliangshan regional mine was once the largest urban mine in the world. Its predecessor, the Zhongliangshan Coal Mine, was completed and put into operation in 1959 and was completely closed in 2021. The total length of the mine is 67 kilometers.
