About Heron Paradise

Heron Paradise is a heron habitat located in Shunde District and Nanhai District of Foshan City. The main body is located 300 meters southeast of Yongfeng Industrial Zone on Bigui Highway in Shunde District. The core area includes about 7 hectares of wetland in the east of Lunjiao and the bamboo forest landscape of Huangji Community, and extends to Dongfeng Village of Huangji Community. Herons have inhabited this area since the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (1821-1850). There are written records of herons inhabiting the area in the 20th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1840). Monitoring from 2023 to 2025 shows that the number of herons has increased from nearly 20,000 to more than 30,000 at the peak.
