About Shunde People's Auditorium
Shunde People's Auditorium is located on Tiyungang, Daliang Street, Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Construction was started in October 1958 and completed in September 1959. It was the largest county-level auditorium in the country at that time. The core of its building is a reinforced concrete thin-shell dome with a span of 55 meters, which set a record of being the first in the country and the second in the world at the time. The auditorium has a total construction area of approximately 14,100 square meters and can accommodate 5,000 people. It has been used as an important meeting and event venue. The building was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Foshan City in 2006, and was selected into the "Eighth Batch of China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage Projects" in 2023.
