About Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen
Sun Yat-sen's former residence is located in Cuiheng Village, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, facing east to west, covering an area of 500 square meters and a construction area of 340 square meters. In the 18th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1892), Sun Yat-sen's brother Sun Mei remitted money back from Honolulu, and Sun Yat-sen presided over the construction. The former residence of Sun Yat-sen is a unique two-story building with brick and wood structure, combining Chinese and Western styles. A wall surrounds the courtyard; the exterior facade of the building imitates Western architecture, with red walls, white lines, green glazed bottle railings, and seven continuous arches on the upper and lower front corridors. The center of the parapet on the roof is decorated with a halo, and a bat with a money ring in its mouth is sculptured below.
