About Xu's Ancestral Hall
The Xu Ancestral Hall is located in Fengtou Village, Jiapeng Township, Jixi County, Anhui Province. It was built during the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty by Xu Tailai after he moved from Xu Village, She County to the bank of Yunchuan Creek. The ancestral hall faces the southeast and northwest, covering an area of more than 1,000 square meters. It adopts a hard gable roof and a fire-sealing wall structure. The interior retains Ming Dynasty architectural components such as prisms and Dingtou arches. The main beam structure of the existing Zhongjin Xiangtang is intact. Qianjin and Houjin were demolished and converted into primary schools during the Cultural Revolution. In May 1998, it was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit together with the adjacent Tingquan Tower. Fengtou Village, where the ancestral hall is located, was called Yunchuan in ancient times.
