About Twelve zodiac stone
The Twelve Zodiac Stones, formerly known as "Wushan Twelve Peaks", are located in Wushan Scenic Area, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. They are composed of twelve limestone rocks shaped like zodiac animals. According to the "Hushan Notes", there are twelve handsome rocks protruding from the ground here, named according to their shapes: Pen Stand, Incense Burner, Chessboard, Elephant Trunk, Jade Bamboo Shoot, Turtle Breath, Coiling Dragon, Sword Spring, Niu Mian, Wu He, Ming Feng and Fu Hu. The landform is actually a karst rock bud, so named because the people in Hangzhou regarded its outline as similar to the twelve zodiac signs. The ancients once set up Lao Genshi signs here and planted pines and cypresses to form the Songguan landscape. There are existing historical buildings such as Siyi Pavilion, Chongyang Nunnery, and Chenghuang Temple in the surrounding area.
