About Geyuan Garden 38

Geyuan Garden is located at No. 10 Yanfu East Road, Yangzhou City, adjacent to Dongguan Street to the south and Yanfu East Road to the north. It covers an area of approximately 2.3 hectares. It is a private garden in the south of the Yangtze River with a front house and a backyard. It is one of the top ten famous gardens in China. The original site of Geyuan was "Shouzhi Garden" in the Ming Dynasty. During the Kangxi and Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty, it was owned by the Ma brothers, a salt merchant in Huaihe River, and was known as the "Jienan Bookhouse". During the Jiaqing period, it was purchased by the salt merchant Huang Zhijun and expanded into a front house and backyard style residential garden. The reason why Ge Garden is called "Ge Garden" is because the owner of the garden, Huang Zhiyun, is a lover of bamboo.
