About Overhanging Great Wall

The Cantilever Great Wall is located in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, about 11 kilometers away from Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, and about 7 kilometers away from Jiayuguan City. It is named because it is built on a ridge of about 45 degrees and looks like it is hanging upside down in the air. The Great Wall was built with local materials, using stone flakes from the mountain and loess from the bottom of the mountain. The Cantilever Great Wall is the northward extension of Jiayuguan City and an important part of the ancient military defense system of Jiayuguan. In 1539 AD, after inspecting the defense of Hexi Province, Shangshu Zhai Luan reported to the imperial court that Suzhou Bingbeidao Li Han supervised the construction of the Great Wall on the north and south wings of Jiayuguan.
