About Jiayuguan City

Jiayuguan City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province, located in the northwest of Gansu Province and situated in the central part of the Hexi Corridor. The area features flat terrain and a temperate continental desert climate, with a total area of 1,224 square kilometers. As of the end of 2025, Jiayuguan City administers 3 subdistricts and 3 towns. By the end of 2024, the permanent population of Jiayuguan City stood at 315,100, with an urbanization rate of 94.75%. Located in the northwest of Gansu Province, in the central part of the Hexi Corridor, Jiayuguan City borders Suizhou District of Jiuquan City to the east. It is named after Jiayuguan Pass and was established as a city in 1965.
