About Guo's Villa
Guo Zhuang, also known as "Song Zhuang", "Duanyou Villa" and "Fenyang Villa", is located on the bank of Wolong Bridge at No. 28 Yanggongdi, Xihu Scenic Area, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a classical private garden building in the south of the Yangtze River during the Qing Dynasty. It was built during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1851~1861), covering an area of 9,788 square meters. Guozhuang was originally the villa of Duanyou of the Song Dynasty, named "Duanyou Villa". Later, the Song family declined. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875~1908), it belonged to the silk industrialist Guo Shilin, so it was called "Guozhuang". Afterwards, its owners changed several times, the gardens were abandoned and the buildings were used for other purposes. On October 1, 1991, Guozhuang was opened to the outside world after comprehensive renovation.
