About Qiuxue'an
Qiuxue Nunnery is located on an isolated island in the core waters of Xixi Hezhu Wetland in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Xixi". It was originally named Dasheng Nunnery and was built in the early years of Chunxi in the Song Dynasty. It was renamed Zishouyuan in the seventh year of Chunxi (1180). At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Chen Jiru changed the name to Qiuxue nunnery based on the poetic meaning of "fishing boat covered with autumn snow" in the Tang Dynasty. The plaque of the Danzhi Tower in the nunnery was inscribed by Dong Qichang. Surrounded by water, the reed marshes in autumn present a landscape of "Autumn Reeds and Flying Snow". It borders the Autumn Snow Beach to the east, the flying catkins of Yangliucheng to the south, and the green grass of Baijialou to the north.
