About Jing De Hall
Jingde Hall is located at the turning point downstream of Niuchang Shuizhen in Hongcun. It was built in the Shunzhi Period of the Qing Dynasty (1646) and is an H-shaped residential house. The main body of the building is composed of front and rear halls, wing rooms and courtyards. It adopts the structure of two front and back courtyards. There are patios in the front and rear halls, a front yard in the south, a kitchen (including a small patio) in the north, and a small side hall and garden on the east side. The square pillars of the house reflect the typical Huizhou characteristics. The gate tower is carved with patterns such as turtles, plum blossoms, orchids, bamboos and chrysanthemums, magpies climbing plum blossoms, etc., symbolizing auspiciousness.
