About Monkey watching the sea

Monkey Viewing the Sea, also known as Monkey Viewing the Peace, is a strange stone landscape located on the north side of Lion Peak in the Beihai Scenic Area of Huangshan City, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, China. The stone monkey stands alone on the top of the peak, looking like a squatting person looking into the distance, quietly watching the fluctuations of the sea of clouds. The best viewing point is the Lion Peak Observation Deck, which is open all day and is included in the admission fee in the Huangshan Scenic Area. It is said that in ancient times, a monkey fell in love with the palm beads of a mortal woman. After unsuccessfully seeking marriage, he looked at Taiping County all day long and turned into a stone monkey. The landscape is particularly spectacular when the clouds and mist linger after rain in the summer.
