About Yungu Temple
Yungu Temple is located at the foot of Bo Yu Peak in the Huangshan Scenic Area, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, with an altitude of 890 meters. It was first built in the 37th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1609). It was originally called Tobo Temple. Together with Xiangfu Temple, Ciguang Temple and Cuiwei Temple, it is also known as the "Four Jungles" of Huangshan Buddhism. This place was originally Wang Tunan Academy, which was converted into a temple by Zen Master Yu'an. Pan Zhiheng, a native of She, named it "Yibao", Tang Binyin called it "Throwing Bowl", and during the Chongzhen period, Fu Yan named it "Yungu". Because Cheng Yuanfeng of the Southern Song Dynasty once studied here, it was also called Prime Minister Yuan. The temple currently houses the Yungu Villa Hotel, an Hui-style building, and has a climbing cableway connecting the Beihai Scenic Area.
