About Lin's Residence on Zijin Street
Lin Zhai, located at No. 30 Zijin Street, Yuehu Street, Haishu District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, is the residence of brothers Lin Zhongqiao and Lin Zhonghua, who were elected during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. It was built during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874). Linzhai is a closed building group with a longitudinal line from south to east. It consists of internal and external screen walls, gate tower, front hall, middle building, back building, wing rooms on the east and west sides, and small garden rooms on the left and right. The entire building is large in scale, light in structure and exquisite in carvings. The architectural layout and decorative features of Linzhai are full of regional characteristics, and it is a valuable example of the architectural art of residential courtyards in the middle and late Qing Dynasty in eastern Zhejiang.
