About Dai Wangfu

The Daiwang Mansion is a complex of reconstructed buildings imitating the Daiwang Mansion of the Ming Dynasty. It is located in the northeast corner of Datong Ancient City, Pingcheng District, Datong City, Shanxi Province, covering an area of 190,000 square meters. In the 24th year of Hongwu's reign in the Ming Dynasty (1391), Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, changed the title of his thirteenth son, Zhu Gui, the king of Yu, to the title of acting king, and he was based in Datong. He then built the royal palace the following year based on the Nanjing Forbidden City. There have been 11 acting kings here to manage government affairs and daily life. In the 17th year of Chongzhen (1644), after the Dashun peasant uprising army captured Datong, the Prince's Palace was destroyed by fire, and only the Nine Dragon Glazed Screen Wall and the Palace Courtyard Wall remained.
