About Moxi Old Town

Moxi Ancient Town is built on a sloping high platform surrounded by water and mountains on the east, west and north sides. The entrance of the ancient town forks into two roads. One leads to the ancient town, the other passes through the new city, and then merges into a circle after going around the city. In the ancient town paved with stone slabs, buildings are clustered close together on both sides of the road. There are actually very few ancient dwellings left. The more distinctive one is the Catholic church built by French missionaries in 1918. In 1935, the Red Army passed through here during its Long March, and Chairman Mao Zedong stayed in the Catholic church and held the famous Moxi Conference. Subsequently, the Red Army seized the Luding Bridge, and Chairman Mao followed the main force of the Red Army across the Luding Bridge.
