About Mahjong's Orgin Exhibition Hall
The Mahjong Origin Exhibition Hall is located in Tianyige Scenic Area, Haishu District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It was officially opened on June 17, 2001. It is China's first special exhibition hall with the theme of Mahjong culture. The museum was rebuilt based on the Chen Yumen family ancestral hall in the late Qing Dynasty. The original building was the Chen family ancestral hall, which is one of the four complete ancestral halls in Ningbo. The architectural shape of the late Qing Dynasty is well preserved. The main building consists of two courtyards, Dehe Hall and Pinghe Hall. It adopts Ningbo's traditional bucket-style wooden frame. The courtyard floor is inlaid with 136 mahjong-shaped floor tiles. There is a bronze group sculpture of "Three Missing One" played by Chen Yumen, a Japanese businessman and British Consul in Ningbo Xia Fuli at the entrance.
