About Wuguantun Grotto
The Wuguantun Grottoes are located about 100 meters west of Wuguantun Village, Yungang Town, southern suburb of Datong City, Shanxi Province. They are 60 meters long from east to west, about 3 meters high, and have a distribution area of about 180 square meters. Sitting north and facing south, it is dug into the mountain. There are 32 existing caves, most of which are small caves or caves with three niches on four walls. The grottoes were excavated during the Northern Wei Dynasty and are small and medium-sized grottoes in the late Northern Wei Dynasty. The grotto is judged to have been carved in the late Northern Wei Dynasty based on the shape of the cave and the characteristics of the statues. The main statues are Sakyamuni and Duobao Buddha sitting side by side with their feet crossed, and there are statues of attendant Bodhisattvas on both sides.
