About Pagoda of Chanfang Temple
The Zenfang Temple Pagoda is located on the top of Zhangren Peak, 30 kilometers southwest of Yungang District, Datong City, Shanxi Province. It was built in the Liao Dynasty. In early 2007, Datong Coal Mining Group Company and Datong Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau jointly implemented the second phase of maintenance and protection project on the ancient pagoda. The Zenfang Temple Pagoda consists of a pagoda base, a pagoda body and a pagoda temple. The Zenfang Temple Pagoda is a hexagonal, seven-level, solid masonry structure. The base of the tower is a Xumizuo, all made of regular rectangular stones. The top layer of stone on the base is carved with lotus petals. The next layer is the waist corset. On top of it is a stone strip carved with two layers of lotus petals. Above the tower base is a brick imitation wood structure tower. Each side of the tower body has false doors on the front.
