About Nanhai Museum
Foshan Nanhai District Museum is a comprehensive museum located at the southern foot of Xiqiao Mountain, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Its predecessor, Nanhai County Museum, was established in 1981, and the new museum was completed and opened in 2013. The museum building is inspired by the ancient quarry ruins of Xiqiao Mountain and has a unique shape. There are more than 10,000 cultural relics in the collection, among which the stone tools from the Xiqiaoshan site and Kang Youwei's handwriting are the most distinctive. The museum is now a national second-level museum and an important base for patriotism education and social science popularization. It systematically displays the local history of the South China Sea and Guangfu culture through permanent exhibitions, temporary special exhibitions and rich research activities.
