About Former Residence of Ceylon Expatriates

The Former Residence of Ceylon Expatriates is an ancient house built in Quanzhou by the descendants of Ceylon princes in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It is located at No. 174-184 Tumen Street, Licheng District (the house number is also No. 176). The building complex was originally a hard-mounted structure with four entrances and three bays. It now has a three-entry main body and ancillary buildings such as guard houses and patios. It covers an area of 780 square meters and retains the exotic red tiled wall on the facade. From the eighth year of Zhengtong (1443) to the second year of Tianshun (1458) in the Ming Dynasty, the King of Ceylon sent many missions to China. In the third year of Ming Shun's reign (1459), the King of Ceylon sent his prince to China as an envoy. He was stranded in Quanzhou due to domestic coups.
