About Quanzhou Overseas Transportation History Museum

Quanzhou Overseas Transportation History Museum (referred to as "Quanzhou Maritime Transportation Museum") is located on the east side of Kaiyuan Temple in Fengze District, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It was founded on July 15, 1959. The new museum was completed in February 1991. It currently has two museum areas: Kaiyuan Temple Museum and East Lake New Museum, with a total area of 35,000 square meters and a construction area of 17,300 square meters. In 1962, Guo Moruo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, inspected the museum and inscribed its name. In 2003, the "Quanzhou Islamic Culture Exhibition Hall" was built on the east side of the main building. The museum is a national first-level museum with the theme of reflecting ancient overseas transportation and the Maritime Silk Road. It has a collection of 9,365 pieces/set, including 1,442 precious cultural relics/set.
