About Gulangyu Piano Museum
Gulangyu Piano Museum was completed on January 8, 2000. It is located in "Tingtao Xuan" in Shuzhuang Garden, Gulangyu Island, Xiamen City, Fujian Province. It is China's first piano museum. The museum has a total area of nearly 1,000 square meters and displays nearly a hundred clavichords collected by patriotic overseas Chinese Hu Youyi, including rare and precious gold-plated pianos, the world's earliest square piano and the earliest and largest upright piano, ancient hand-operated pianos, a pedal automatic player piano produced a hundred years ago, and an eight-pedal clavichord. The museum was established by Hu Youyi donating his collection. In 2001, the museum opened its second phase of the new building, and the exhibition area was expanded. In 2005, a piano gallery was added to the museum.
