About Former Henan Provincial Museum
The former site of Henan Museum is located at No. 31 Sansheng Street, Longting District, Kaifeng City, Henan Province. It is a building from the Qing Dynasty. The former site of the Henan Provincial Museum was the residence of the Governor of Donghe in the Qing Dynasty, built specifically for the Governor of the River Xu Zhen (in office from 1890 to 1895). In July of the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), in order to protect Henan's rich cultural relics, the "Henan Museum" preparatory committee was established under the strong advocacy of General Feng Yuxiang. The museum was located in Sansheng Street, Kaifeng City. The former site of the Henan Provincial Museum is large in scale and is divided into three entrances: front, middle and back. The front yard is the supporting service room area, and the middle yard is the exhibition room area.
