About Taiyuan Ocean World
Taiyuan Ocean World is a large indoor family amusement experience center located in Tongzhiren Shopping Center, Yingze District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. On April 25, 2025, a "Mermaid" performer at the venue drowned during a performance and was rescued by staff and sent to the hospital. After the incident, the venue initially claimed that the cause was the performer's hypoglycemia, but later confirmed by the performer and the venue, the actual cause was that the fins fell off while floating for ventilation, causing the person to be unable to float. The venue later issued a public apology and has suspended operations.
