About Fuzhou Zoo
Fuzhou Zoo is located at No. 100, Xinyuan Road, Xindian Town, Jin'an District, Fuzhou City (near Fuzhou National Forest Park). Founded in 1956, it was moved from its old location at the foot of Dameng Mountain to its new location in May 2008. Covering an area of 815 acres, it mainly undertakes functions such as ex-situ wildlife protection, scientific research, and science education in Fuzhou. As of 2013, Fuzhou Zoo has 16 animal exhibition halls and exhibition areas of various types, with more than 1,000 animals of nearly 150 species, including more than 20 national first-level protected animals, such as golden monkeys, black leaf monkeys, gibbons, Asian elephants, alligators, South China tigers, elk, takin, etc.
