About East Sea Fairyland
The Donghai Fairyland Scenic Area, also known as the Xianrenjing Scenic Area, is a destination on Pingtan International Tourism Island. It is a national AAA-level scenic area and a provincial geological park, and it served as a filming location for China National Geography magazine. The scenic area is located on the southern foothills of Wangyue Mountain, one of the nine major scenic areas that make up the Haitan Scenic Resort. Comprising attractions such as Xianrenjing, Xianrendong, and Xianrengu, it features a rare marine erosion landform found in China. At the bottom of “Xianrenjing” well, there are four marine erosion caves that lead to the sea; during high tide, the waves surge and crash into the well’s bottom, their white foam roaring like thunderous bells. According to folklore, this well was dug by Tieguai Li, one of the Eight Immortals, to provide water for his thirst.
