About Fig King Scenic Area
The Fig Tree King (scientific name: Ficus carica) is a small tree belonging to the genus Ficus in the family Moraceae. In Uyghur, it is known as “Anjier,” and it belongs to the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida. Located approximately 15 kilometers from Hotan City, this tree stands in Layi’ka Township, Hotan County, Xinjiang. It is over 500 years old, with a crown covering an area of 1.5 mu. Its branches spread close to the ground, forming a “single tree becoming a forest” landscape, requiring more than a hundred wooden beams to support its branches. The fruit is hidden within the flower base, bearing three harvests per year, ripening from June to October. Each tree produces over 20,000 fruits annually; the flesh is bright yellow, sweet, and delicious, earning it the nickname “sugar buns.
