About Palace Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo
The Palace Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo is located at No. 5, Guangfu North Road, Kuangcheng District, Changchun City, Jilin Province. It was founded in 1962, covers a total area of 250,500 square meters, and has a building area of 137,000 square meters. It is a palace site museum—established on the foundation of the former imperial palace complex of Puyi—and a national first-class museum. The predecessor of the Palace Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo was the official office of the Jihé Tax and Transport Bureau, which managed salt affairs in Jilin and Heilongjiang Provinces during the Republic of China period. The museum was established in 1962, and protection and restoration work on the former site of the Palace of the Puppet Manchukuo began in 1982. In February 2001, it was renamed the Palace Museum of the Puppet Manchukuo.
