About Longxing Temple
Longxing Temple, also known as Dafu Temple, is one of the earliest existing, largest, and best-preserved Buddhist temples in China. It is a historic architectural landmark and a site of significant historical and cultural importance. Located at No. 109 Zhongshan Road, Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, it covers an area of 82,500 square meters. Longxing Temple was founded in the sixth year of Kaihuang reign during the Sui Dynasty (586 AD), originally named Longzang Temple; it was renamed Longxing Temple during the Tang Dynasty. In the fourth year of Kaibao reign during the Northern Song Dynasty (971 AD), by imperial decree of Emperor Taizu Zhao Kuangyin of the Song Dynasty, a massive, 42-armed bronze statue of Guanyin—Bodhisattva—was cast within the temple, and the Great Compassion Treasure Pavilion was constructed.
