About Hanguang Pagoda

Hanguang Pagoda (also known as Doumen Pagoda) is located in Doumen Mountain, Wenxin Village, Jiangnan Town, Lianjiang County, Fujian Province. It was built in the 16th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1588) and was initiated by Wu Wenhua, Minister of War of the Ming Dynasty. The tower is an octagonal seven-story pavilion-style red brick ancient tower. The base and corners are made of granite. The tower is 26.87 meters high (the height after repairs in 1988, the original tower height before repairs was 25.2 meters). It has spiral stone steps inside. There are only two similar buildings in the country. In 2001, it was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit in Fujian Province. A survey in 1986 found that the tower tilted 10.20 degrees to the southeast. In 1987, the Provincial Department of Culture allocated funds for repairs.
