About dongguan ancient ferry

Dongguan Ancient Ferry is located on Taizhou Road, Guangling District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is located on the bank of the ancient canal. It was built in the second year of Baoli of the Tang Dynasty (826). The ferry was formed because Wang Bo, the military governor of Huainan, dug the Qiligang River to dredge water transportation. It was called Lijin Ferry in the Ming Dynasty and renamed Dongguan Ancient Ferry in the Qing Dynasty. It is now an important scenic spot in the Yangzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal. The ferry was still used in the Song Dynasty and still existed in the late Yuan Dynasty. In the 1990s, the ancient canal was renovated and transformed into a tourist wharf. In 1999, the Dongguan Ancient Ferry Archway was built. In 2004, it was selected as one of the top ten scenic spots in Yangzhou.
