About Wenfeng Tower
Wenfeng Pagoda is located on the top of Wenfeng Mountain in Huangjueya, Nanshan Mountain, Nan'an District, Chongqing. It was first built in the 30th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1850) and completed the following year (1851). According to historical records, in the 11th year of Daoguang's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1831), Gao Xuelian, the county magistrate of Ba County, built a tree on the peak of Bijia Mountain. In the 30th year of Daoguang's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1850), Huang Zhongyin and Ding You, the editor and supervisory censor, suggested building the pagoda when he returned home. In the same year, Cao Shuzhong, a soldier stationed in Chongqing, started building the top of the pagoda in order to make Ba a "humanistic source". The tower is a seven-level pavilion-style masonry tower with a height of about 28 meters.
