About Xichuntai
Xichuntai is located in the Slender West Lake Twenty-Four Bridge Scenic Area in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is the main building of the scenic area. It was first built in the 22nd year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1757), rebuilt in 1986, and opened to the outside world in 1990. Its name comes from "Everyone is bustling like a crowd on the Spring Terrace" in the Tao Te Ching. It is one of the "Twenty-Four Scenic Spots" of Yangzhou in the Qing Dynasty, "Chun Terrace Bright Moon". According to legend, it was built by Yangzhou salt merchants to celebrate the birthday of Emperor Qianlong, so it is also called "Chuntai Birthday". The building is in the style of a royal garden, with a two-story main building covered with green glazed tiles.
