About Chang Jing Lou
The Chanting Tower is located in the middle section of Gulou Street, Xinghualing District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It covers an area of about 750 square meters and was built in the early Ming Dynasty. The singing building faces south and mainly includes the singing building, corridor, main hall, and Chunqiu Tower. The building is combined with the main hall, Chunqiu Tower, and corridor to form a "Gong"-shaped courtyard. The Ching Building was the main place where candidates' rankings were announced after the imperial examinations in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is a building complex related to the imperial examination culture, with significant historical features and rich cultural connotations. On March 5, 2013, the Choir Tower was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
