About Daliang Gate
Daliang Gate is the west gate of the ancient city of Kaifeng. It was built in the second year of Jianzhong of the Tang Dynasty (781). It was historically called Liang Gate, Qianxiang Gate, and Changhe Gate. It was renamed Daliang Gate in the early Ming Dynasty. The original city gate tower suffered repeated wars and floods and was eventually demolished. The existing building was rebuilt in 1998. The reconstructed Daliang Gate is an important symbol of the ancient capital of Kaifeng. The gate base is a blue brick structure with three arched door openings. The city tower adopts the double eaves and mountain-style architectural style. The multi-layered ancient horse road ruins have been discovered on the north side of the city gate, providing important physical evidence for the historical wonder of Kaifeng's "city upon city". There is also an ancient horse road ruins museum here.
