About Overflow hill pavilion
Manshan Pavilion, also known as Maitreya Pavilion, is located at the west peak of Tianlong Mountain Scenic Area in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Tianlong Mountain. The existing building is a three-story, four-eaves Xieshantop pavilion rebuilt in 1986 on the basis of the Ming Dynasty site. Its history can be traced back to the Northern Han Dynasty. In the early years of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty, a high pavilion was built to protect the Buddha. Inside the pavilion is Cave 9 of the Tianlongshan Grottoes, which preserves stone sculptures from the Tang Dynasty. On the upper floor is the 7.55-meter-high Maitreya Buddha. In the middle of the lower floor is the 5.5-meter-high eleven-faced Guanyin statue. On the left is Samantabhadra riding an elephant, and on the right is Manjushri riding a lion.
