About Jingxing Mining Area Mass Grave Memorial Hall
The Jingxing Mining Area Mass Grave Memorial Hall is located in People’s Park, Nanwei West Road, Jingxing Mining Area, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. It is a provincial-level patriotism education base and a state-owned museum. The museum was built in 1999 and officially opened in April 2004. The main building area is 1,475 square meters and the exhibition area is 870 square meters. The name of the museum was inscribed by General Yang Chengwu, the first director of the Management Committee of Jingxing Mining Area and an older generation revolutionary. As of 2022, the museum has 623 exhibits (sets) and received 6,000 visitors throughout the year. The memorial hall is built around the Nandagou mass grave site, where the remains of approximately 30,000 miners who died between 1899 and 1947 were discarded, and dozens of skeletons are still in existence.
