About Wenchang Palace

Wenchang Palace is located in Linhuan Town, Suixi County, Huaibei City, Anhui Province. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty and was first named Shangshu Palace. Later, it was named Changdi Temple. It was named Wenchang Palace in the late Song Dynasty and is still used today. The existing building is a three-entry courtyard with blue bricks and gray tiles, covering an area of 2,170 square meters and containing 16 palace rooms and wing rooms. It has both Huizhou style and garden features. During the Huaihai Campaign in 1948, it became the headquarters of the General Front Committee. Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, and Deng Xiaoping commanded operations here. There is now a memorial hall displaying more than 200 cultural relics and restored command scenes.
